Mimosa Pudica (Shame Plant)

Light:

  • Very bright light with a couple hours of direct sun a day
  • Will not tolerate low light conditions

Water:

  • Likes to stay consistently and evenly moist, but not too soggy

  • Humidity

    • High humidity is necessary for survival
    • Keep on a pebble tray with water, or next to a humidifier

    Soil Type:

    • Requires a rich, water retentive soil that still has some aeration
    • 2 parts loamy soil, 2 parts peat moss, one part perlite

    Toxicity Level:

    • Non-toxic to animals, although consumption may cause an upset digestive system

    Additional Information:

    • Touching the plant too often will stress it out, and it will stop responding to stimuli or start wilting
    • Does not tolerate the cold - needs to be kept at least above 60 degrees
    • Great terrarium plants - will benefit from a glass dome as well
