Caladium in a 6in nursery pot. Caladium are beautiful leafy plants that thrive in high humidity. They can grow large beautiful leaves in bright light and come back from bulb year after year.
Light: Bright filtered light
Requires bright, indirect light - direct sun will burn the thin leaves. Can tolerate medium light in front of north or east window, but will have less foliage.
Water: Moderate
Water when topsoil feels dry to the touch. Needs to be watered regularly, roughly once a week or more depending on environmental conditions.
Soil: Well-draining soil
A mix of potting soil and perlite and orchid bark.
Toxicity Level: Toxic to animals if ingested.
Additional Information: During the winter the leaves may fall off and the bulbs go dormant. Does not have any tolerance for cold; try to keep at temperatures of 65 degrees or higher. They are tuberous plants that grow foliage only from spring to autumn. You can then either lift the tubers, allow them to dry and store them in peat in a breathable bag or leave them in the soil and suspend watering.
